Extra Money Answer: How to Create, Promote, and Monetize an Affiliate Site

Extra Money Answer provides a real and honest picture of the opportunities in affiliate marketing. Author Shawn Collins explains how most people don’t make much at all, and that it requires lots of time, testing, and patience.

But you can make extra money if you do it right.

Learn how to come up with ideas for affiliate sites, create content, drive traffic, and make money with the site.

Wondering why you should read Shawn’s book?

Well, he’s been an affiliate since 1997. He also managed affiliate programs for ten years, and co-founded the Affiliate Summit conference in 2003. He’s done this stuff every day since the 90’s and he knows what works.

Also, you’ve probably seen books, ebooks, courses, etc. that claim they can teach you how to get rich quick. He doesn’t do that. You won’t get rich quick as an affiliate. You probably won’t get rich slow, either. But it’s a great way to earn an extra $50, $100, or more a month.

“Get started now with this book” – Jim Kukral
This is the ultimate beginner’s guide to learning how to successful get started with affiliate marketing. No fluff. Just good, real, powerful advice from a guy who’s been an industry leader in the field since the beginning. This book is great because it won’t waste your time with unneeded tactics and ideas. Instead, you get the correct information you must know in order to start your online career. Highly recommended for people starting out.

“Designed to genuinely help people with actual step by step tutorials and resources” – Dave Cupples
This is a really great book for beginners who want to cut the crap and hype and actually learn step by step how to get into affiliate marketing and setup a website.

Unfortunately when it comes to creating an online business there is a lot of BS out there by gurus who just hype people into a frenzy in order to sell some get rich system. This book is completely different and is not selling anything but simply designed to genuinely help people with actual step by step tutorials and resources. It is one of the few guides out there I would feel comfortable recommending to friends and family.

Especially if you are a beginner I would highly recommend you grab this!

The ultimate step-by-step guide to affiliate marketing for newbies The #1 thing that gets in the way of most people in terms of making money online is fear…fear that you’re going to waste your time, get taken advantage of, not know what to do, and ultimately not making any money. Most people kind of need their hand held through the process. If that’s you, then this book is for you. It takes you through every single step of how to choose a topic, get a domain, set up a website, create and curate content, promote your site, etc. — all for what… $3? That’s a steal. The only reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars is that I have some issues with some of the suggestions. For example, I would never recommend GoDaddy. I used them for years, because they were “good enough”. But even ignoring all the politics / privacy / ethics issues, I’ve simply found too many times that they do weird, non-standard things, plus the fact that I got sick of being constantly upsold other services when I’m just trying to manage my stuff. There are numerous better options, at better prices, with better service. Frankly, while at a later date you may want to have your domains and your hosting separate, for newbies it’s a LOT easier to just get them both at the same place…definitely saves a couple of steps and may even save you some money. For a WordPress theme, Thesis is decent, but it’s also $87 for the basic theme, and that’s $87 more you have to make before you start turning a profit. There are tons of great free themes available. I’m personally a big fan of Atahualpa, which is the most downloaded free theme. It’s particularly great because you don’t have to edit theme files to put in custom CSS, or even to create your own widget areas. Yeah — I know that’s Greek to the target audience for this book, but trust me, it will become very relevant very quickly. As far as WordPress themes — save your money until you’re really sure you need to spend it.A couple of notable missing promotional tools are Empire Avenue and Triberr. These have become absolute essentials for me and some of my clients. They’re free, and very effective. So, all in all — a great step-by-step guide for newbies to get started, but don’t take it as gospel. If you decide to join the world of affiliate marketing, plan on becoming an information sponge — you never stop learning.

A “Must Read” for all entrepreneurs Shawn does a great job balancing the practical aspects of starting and affiliate site, and all the other key factors such as topic selection, getting traffic, and tracking results. In the book intro he tells experienced affiliates that this isn’t for them, but I disagree. I’ve been an affiliate for over 5 years and still found some nuggets of gold that I didn’t know – such as creative use of Facebook ads and some social media tools.I was a little confused at first because some links in each Chapter take you to a protected member area on his site for is book. But then I realized that the area is free for book buyers. A short explanation re how the site and book work together would have helped in the beginning. Knowing Shawn he will add that soon :)All in all this was an easy read with lots of real examples and pictures too. I have no hesitation in recommending Extra Money Answer to anyone interested in affiliate marketing – experienced or not.5 thumbs up!-Peter Koning, President Entra Marketing Ltd and founder Affiliate-Software-Review.com

Great Read for Beginners I’ve been in the affiliate marketing industry for over 10 years. I’ve read dozens of books, and even wrote my own guide 7 years ago. When I purchased this book, I tried to read it as a beginner would. To my surprise there were helpful tips for both beginner and intermediate affiliate marketers. I ended up bookmarking several pages and passages on my e-reader.The book contains several practical tips that will help any beginner get started. The book isn’t full of hype like so many books in this category. Shawn lays out a simple roadmap that anyone can follow. If you’re brand new to the affiliate game, or having a hard time getting through the initial stages of growing your business, I highly recommend this book.
